Class Description:
For adults and teens age 16 and older.
Unlock the secrets of portrait painting with teaching artist, Alexandra Valentino. In this class, students will learn unique methods and techniques Alexandra has developed on her own journey into accomplished portraiture. Beginners and those with previous experience, alike, will benefit from the non-traditional approach explored in this class. Over the course of this 5-week class, students will fully develop a 14” x 18” portrait in oil of a person (or pet!) of their choosing. Working from reference photos, students will practice sketching with paint, then utilize washes, color blocking and contrast to carve their subject out from the canvas. Alexandra will speak to the difficulties and intimidation factor that often accompanies portraiture and students will gain new confidence in their abilities, both as painters and artists.
