Quilt(R)evolution: Art Quilt Retrospective 1979 – 2014 is OPEN! Come see this amazing show! September 19 – November 22, 2014. This exhibition was conceived to celebrate the 100th birthday of The Barn in 2014. Its premise is to showcase the revolution/evolution of the art quilt beginning in the late 1970s/early 1980s – Quilt National itself became the premier art quilt exhibition venue in 1979 – and this new exhibition will illustrate the genre’s transitions over the years by featuring the works of former Quilt National jurors. Quilt National jurors are chosen for their achievements in the medium, so they are typically accomplished art quilters in their own right. Each participating artist will contribute one of their early works (1979 – 1985), a work from the period of their jury service, and a current work. The Diary Barn Arts Center will publish a full color catalog of the participating works to accompany the exhibit.
