Class Description:
For adults and teens age 16 and older.
Join Dairy Barn Teaching Artist, Erica Magnus, for a long-form, instructor-assisted Open Studio painting experience. Beginners and those with more experience are all welcome!
Bring your own canvases, oil paints or acrylics, paint rags, brushes and odorless turpenoid (for oils). Work tables, table easels and other related materials will be provided. A central still life will be set up by the instructor and additional objects will be available for those wishing to arrange their own subject. The full afternoon time frame and small class size is designed for maximum productivity and one-on-one mentorship from Erica throughout the workshop. Primary focus will be on managing the relationships of color and value (dark to light) and how to make them work together in your painting. Erica will be able to provide additional guidance on aspects of composition, perspective, proportion, and scale as you work. Brief demonstrations will be given as the instructor deems helpful or at a participant’s request.
