Events and Outreach Manager

The Dairy Barn Arts Center is looking for a full time Events and Outreach Manager.  The main tasks for this position are two-fold:

Social Media and Public Relations

The Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate marketing, outreach and social media for the organization and develop programming, fundraising endeavors and coordinating outreach.

Essential duties & responsibilities include the following:

  • Develops and executes outreach plans and programs, both short and long range, to ensure the public is informed about activities occurring throughout the year using social media and other outreach.
  • Write and distribute new releases, public service announcements, advertisements and work with graphic designer to develop online and printed materials.
  • Supervises education interns and work study students.
  • Develops program budgets and monitors expenses of their program area.
  • Researches, analyzes, and monitors economic, technological, and demographic factors so that outreach programs are cost effective and results-oriented, and capitalize on service opportunities.

Events and Rentals

The Events Portion of the Manager position will include the following tasks:

  • Maintain a calendar of events, exhibitions & rental for the organization.
  • Respond to emails, take calls, set up appointments and develop contracts with potential renters;
  • Work with renters to develop plans for events and assist them with details of the events;
  • Staff and work with the Events Committee to develop plans for Dairy Barn events
  • Work Dairy Barn events and coordinate volunteers to assist with events.
  • Coordinate the Dairy Barn Fest and the Holiday Bazaar
  • Work with staff to ensure that the facility (or room) is prepared for the event
  • Supervise the Bar Manager to ensure we maintain and inventory the alcohol, maintain sales and waste records, and order as needed for events or activities at the Barn;
  • Work with staff to maintain equipment, supplies and the rental space to ensure that the space is clean and ready for rentals.
  • Coordinate and schedule adequate staff for events and rentals

Qualifications

This person will need to be highly organized, motivated, and enthusiastic.   Ideal candidates will be proficient at Microsoft programs, interfacing with strategic use of social media sites and possess the knowledge to use artistic and graphic design software.  Excellence written and oral communication skills are required.

It is anticipated that the manager will spend about 50% on each of the areas of the position, but this may vary depending on the time of the year.

This position can expect to work evenings and many weekends.  The event manager will also have duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

An interest in the arts, public administration and/or community organization is preferred but not mandatory.

This is a very physically demanding position.  Setting up and tearing down events is part of the position.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
