About this Workshop:
In the first session, Participants will create a small piece out of oil clay. There will be extensive instructions on how to avoid making undercuts and other features that will complicate or cause a plaster mold to fail. In the second session, participants will learn to pour the first part of their mold. This session will include cutting flashing and other finer points of making a successful mold. In the last session, participants will pour the remaining half of the mold and remove from the container if time allows. At the end of this mini class series, participants will have a fully reusable mold and the knowledge to make as many more as they wish!
I am an Athens artist who creates mostly Celtic art that is based on the research I do on ancient Celtic culture and mythology. I received my BFA in sculpture from Ohio University in 1990 and started my business, Green Mantle Studio, in 2000. I spend my time making art to sell in shops, online, and at craft/art/Celtic festivals. I am very involved in the local art scene being a commissioner on the Athens Municipal Arts Commission and a member of the Athens Art Guild. I am also an events coordinator – co-running the Athens Community Arts & Music Festival, executive director of Ratha Con: Athens Own Pop Culture Convention, coordinating the Athens Art Guild Holiday Shoppe, and supervisor of artisan vendors at the Nelsonville Music Festival. I live in Athens with my dog and my cat.
