In this engaging 4 week class, local mosaic Artist Ann Murrell will walk you through the process of designing, preparing, and constructing a mosaic “paver” or garden stepping stone. Once finished, these sturdy art pieces are safe to be outside year round and will add a splash of color to your garden or yard that you will enjoy for years to come. You will learn how to cut glass, glue, and grout in this comprehensive 4 session process. After this class, you will have the skills you need to go out and mosaic anything your heart desires from cement pavers to outdoor tables.
Because the process is intensive, and this course is for beginners, participants will be encouraged to create an abstract image or utilize a very simple design for their paver.
*Note: Cutting pieces of glass requires moderate hand strength and coordination.
Participants will complete one 12 inch by 12 inch cement paver over the course of this class. All materials are included.
About the Artist:
I (Ann Murrell) have been working in glass as a hobby since 1985. Starting out with stained glass. In 2003 I learned the art of lampworking and started making glass beads. Needing a kiln caused me to experiment with fusing glass. I like the painting with glass that mosaic work offers. It can be as simple or complex as you like. Anything made with stained glass brings in the beauty of light and color.
