We see photos of ourselves and others on a daily basis, but what makes a good portrait? Learn how to draw your viewer in and keep them looking. This workshop will breakdown the basics of how to play with and gesture in order to create a compelling portrait. Work with Wide Open artist Cassidy Brauner as she goes over some of her own portrait work, a brief history of the power of portraits in photography, and ways to get the most use of your own camera and different environments to construct engaging images.  All participants will be able to view Wide Open: Excellence in Photography for free during the lunch break.

Participants will need:

  • Their own Camera. A wide variety of camera types are allowed from DSLR to smart phones (with 12 megapixel or higher). Cassidy will review basics of how to get the most control out of your camera.
  • Tripods are recommended but not required.
  • May bring their own props/objects. Consider what you are wearing as you will be standing in for each other. Some basic props will be provided.
  • May bring their own laptop computers for viewing during the process. Cassidy will be using her own to project images in the end for review.
