 #PghHandMadeHearts

(From the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival web page)

On October 27, 2018, worshipers at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA, were attacked in a senseless act of hatred. In response, we, the Grossman family, started the Pgh HandMade Hearts campaign to make and place handmade hearts in public places as vivid reminders of the power of kindness.

Our mission is to foster compassion for those impacted by acts of violence and hatred, as well as to discourage future acts of this nature. Let’s #ShareAHeartPgh, with #PghHandMadeHearts.

[At their event in Pittsburgh they] will be supplying a variety of materials with instructions at the festival, tagging them with positive messages and asking you to take a few with you to put in places such as: libraries, lobbies, churches, mosques, synagogues, community centers, senior centers, auditoriums, at a bus stop, in a supermarket (among the apples or mangos) (on the cereal shelf), at the park, playground, on a hiking trail, etc.

You may make hearts in advance and bring them with you. If you are unable to attend, please drop them at designated stores [In Pittsburgh].

If you happen to find a little heart in a public space in the meantime, please take a picture, note where you found it and post it to social media with the following hashtags: #ShareAHeartPgh, #PghHandMadeHearts, #LOVE>hate, #Lovegreaterthanhate

Several Dairy Barn Staff will actually be traveling to Pittsburgh in March and, if you would like, would be delighted to deliver your hearts to the campaign organizers to be placed in the city in a show of national solidarity against hate.  Or, take your hearts with you and spread the love in our own community.  Lets use art to spread love!

So come enjoy a favorite beverage and make something for good.  This would be a great date night, friends night out and a lovely way to kick off some of the winter blues.
