Saturday, Nov. 3rd. 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Workshop Participation Rates:

$90.00 Dairy Barn Members/Students/Teachers/Seniors

$100.00 Non-Members

Workshop Description:
The workshop will focus on assembling wheel thrown forms to create dynamic sculptures, vessels, bowls and vases. Improvisational ways to utilize the wheel will be explored to create fluid rhythmic forms. Discussions will center around how form alone can trigger a wide range of thoughts and emotions within the viewer.

Hunter will demonstrate how to throw forms that can be bent, stretched, and attached to cylinder and bowl ‘armature’ forms.  Techniques covered will include throwing forms without a bottom, throwing hollow enclosed forms, stacking sectional forms, paddling, stretching and other ways to manipulate wet clay.

Participants will be provided with clay, tools and access to a wheel to throw their own forms in the morning. Once the forms stiffen, students will be able to construct their own pieces in a collaborative and energetic environment. Finished pieces will be fired by the Dairy Barn, and will be available for pick up at a later date.
