Meet our new Events Coordinator, Sara Severns. Sara is an alumnus of the University of Mount Union with a degree in Art Education. She has worked as a teaching artist for The Dairy Barn since 2022, and she also spent over three years as a substitute teacher. Experienced in working with students and families, she looks forward to planning events that span generational divides and inspire young people to appreciate and pursue the arts.
Sara’s personal artistic endeavors primarily include drawing and printmaking. Her works have recently been exhibited in shows at Casa Nueva, The Union, and Jackie O’s Brewery. She runs a DIY screen-printing business out of her home studio, working with bands to make merch to sell at their shows. Her main artistic collaboration is with local band Jone and the Hissyfits– her illustrative art style serving as the band’s visual branding.
Along with her professional experience in arts and educational programming, Sara has been a bartender for four years. She is excited to bring her experience in nightlife to the table when it comes to putting on memorable weddings and private parties at the barn.
As Events Coordinator, Sara wants to break through the noise of the many happenings in and around Athens through intentional marketing and outreach. Targeted and effective advertisement, direct and genuine communication, and establishing a reputation of reliability and transparency are Sara’s key focuses as she takes on the role of Events Coordinator.
