OH+5: Ohio Border Exhibition

 

Exhibition Opens January 22-March 12, 2016

The tenth  in a series of competitions, OH+5 ’16 is a regional, all media, juried exhibition of contemporary artwork.  This exhibition serves to promote artists residing in Ohio and the five states that border Ohio: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. OH+5 ’16 will feature NEW work that provides the viewer with an appreciation of the variety of media, techniques and innovative trends in contemporary art.

After accepting entries from 115 artists submitting 303 pieces, the jurors selected 41 artists and 56 works for the tenth biennial OH+5:  Ohio Border Exhibition.

The Jurors were:

Susan Crehan-Hostetler is the Gallery Director for Hostetler Gallery in Nantucket, Massachusetts and Athens, Ohio. She oversees both galleries, and the marketing, sales and commissions for her internationally known husband, David Hostetler, wood carver and bronze sculptor. She also represents artists Art Werger, Power Boothe, Xanda McCagg and Donn Russell. She has served on the board of the Dairy Barn Arts Center; and currently with A Safe Place Nantucket, Athens Area Citizens for the Arts and the Theatre Workshop Nantucket. Fundraising for many organizations in Ohio and Nantucket add to her community work. She graduated from Simmons College, Boston MA with Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Bartholomew Ryan is an independent curator and formerly was Warhol’s Milton Fine Curator of Art. Before that, he was an assistant curator at Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN, where he began as a curatorial fellow. Ryan studied at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and before studied drama and theater at Trinity College Dublin, where he is from originally.
