These talented individuals possess a wealth of knowledge about traditional and contemporary textiles and decades of collective experience with the artistic and technical aspects of this exciting art form.

Françoise Barnes is an artist, quilter, teacher and lecturer. After coming to Athens in 1970s, she took drawing classes at Ohio University. Shortly after, she discovered quilts and saw the possibilities of designing her own and not replicating the traditional ones. She was one of the co-founders of Quilt National in 1979. After twenty years making quilts, she began to move away from textiles and go back to painting and drawing. Her quilts are in many private and corporate collections.
