FREE COMMUNITY ART EVENT! March 8th, 5-7 PM. The Wizard Walk is a growing community arts tradition where youth lead the way, transforming imagination into a shared celebration of creativity and connection.
Wizard Walk transforms the Dairy Barn Arts Center into an indoor/outdoor celebration of costume, performance, and youth creativity. The Myth Makers Guild activates the Community Room with large-scale projections of student-created characters and stories, immersing visitors in illustrated worlds created entirely by youth artists. A Kids on Campus and Teen Art Club: Stories in the Park collaboration will also be featured in a looping projection, and the full exhibition will travel to Richland Avenue Park this spring.
Live performances by students from Trimble High School and band Sub Zero from Stuart’s Opera House After School Music Program are a highlight of the evening. Hocking College Film & Video Production will also be on site, producing a live music video during their performance.
With creative partners including Rural Action and Passion Works Studio, Wizard Walk expands beyond a single evening—it becomes a community-powered celebration of imagination, accessibility, and shared authorship. The Ohio University Recycling Center and the Athens Recycling Center help fuel the magic by contributing reclaimed materials that transform into costumes and unexpected works of art.
A costume and Wizard Hat contest invites bold invention (dramatic capes highly encouraged). A piñata moment adds just the right amount of joyful chaos. The energy is playful, welcoming, and a little bit unpredictable—in the best way. Dress up. Show up. Cheer on young artists.
Thanks to the generous support of The Magic Martha Fund.
